JaanBaaz-The Love Story of an Outlaw
About the Book
The first thing JaanBaaz takes from Princess Amrita Devi is a railway treaty.
The second is every certainty with which she began her journey.
Amrita is travelling to Bhanwargarh to marry Rana Adhiraj Singh, a match meant to secure an alliance between two princely houses and satisfy powerful men who regard kingdoms, railways and marriages as pieces of the same political arrangement.
Then a black-fletched arrow lands beside her convoy.
JaanBaaz is the outlaw the police cannot catch and the villages refuse to betray. He robs revenue carts, burns debt ledgers, humiliates officials and disappears into the ravines before soldiers can close their hands around him.
He also knows far too much about the treaty Amrita is carrying.
When his men ambush her escort, JaanBaaz takes both the documents and the princess who knows how to unlock them. Amrita expects a bandit. Instead she finds a man surrounded by people who trust him, secrets that reach into Bhanwargarh Palace, and evidence that the future she was travelling towards may have been built upon betrayal.
Behind the mask is Devendra Singh Bundela, a prince officially dead for eight years.
His survival could overturn a throne.
His past could expose men powerful enough to erase him once already.
And falling in love with the woman promised to his enemy may prove more dangerous than either.
As British officials, rival princes, spies and soldiers close around them, Amrita must decide where loyalty ends and complicity begins, while Devendra must choose whether he wants justice, a kingdom, or the life he created when the world believed him dead.
JaanBaaz: The Love Story of an Outlaw is a sweeping historical adventure of rebellion, palace intrigue, forbidden love and a masked outlaw whose legend is about to collide with the truth.
A princess was travelling towards a political marriage.
An outlaw stopped her on the road.
Neither of them would reach the future that had been planned.
